New government funding is enabling the construction of projects nationwide designed to capture, transport, and store carbon dioxide. What does investment in these technologies and infrastructure mean for the Corpus Christi region? What are the potential impacts or risks? What mechanisms are in place to prioritize environmental and community safety? How can the Coastal Bend capture benefits from these new investments, and be involved in decisions about these projects?
Join community, labor, nonprofit, environmental, research, economic development, and local government stakeholders for an interactive workshop about carbon capture and carbon removal projects. The goals of the workshop are:
• For the Department of Energy and other government agencies to listen to community priorities, concerns, and ideas related to carbon projects, and learn how community members would like to be involved in projects moving forward.
• For community members to learn about the potential carbon projects that might be proposed as a fit for their area, how federal agencies regulate projects to mitigate impacts, and opportunities for public participation.
While this workshop is open to all members of the public, registration will be limited to 40 participants to ensure that multiple perspectives are represented and that the group is small enough to foster meaningful discussion among participants, so please register soon. Specific details regarding the event location will be emailed to you closer to the event date. We hope to see you there!
